Unlike "Department Store" water softeners which are designed on a one size fits all concept, our water softener packages are suited for small and larger flow rate requirements as well as the higher water consumption needs for todays growing family and lifestyle. Our water softeners have comparatively larger tanks, super size valve ports, and all include a user friendly solid state digital electronic control valve.

What sets our high flow water softener systems apart from our competitors - Dual Adjustable Backwashes. There is an initial backwash set at 10 minutes (adjustable from 1- 99 minutes in the field) that loosens the resin column and discharges any debris collected on the top of the resin bed since the last regeneration. We then draw in the brine and rinse it through the resin in a downward flow. This water softener series, unlike virtually all other systems, has a second adjustable time backwash which is factory set at 5 minutes (and field adjustable 1 - 99 minutes) to rid the system of these particles for the ultimate in cleaning and softening. The SE controls provide quick setup and programming, Quick connect clips allow easy installation and maintenance. Each softener includes a high flow bypass valve, high flow distribution system, large plumbing connections, Soft water brine refill, and digital electronic meter initiated regeneration.

What Is Hard Water?

Water Softeners from RainDance Water Systems - Hard water is measure by the level of Calcium and Magnesium bicarbonates in the water. Hard water symptoms are soap curd, lime scum in the sink and bathtub. Hardness is measured in parts per million (or the equivalent mg/L) or in grains per gallon (gpg). Note: if the water analysis is given in ppm as CaCO3 then 1 gpg = 17.1 ppm. There is no established limit for the acceptable level of hardness in water, but it is generally considered to become problematic at around 3 gpg.
Levels of hardness are referred to as follows:

Soft Water: 0 - 1 grains per gallon (gpg) 
Slightly Hard Water: 1 - 4 grains per gallon (gpg) 
Moderately Hard Water: 4 - 7 grains per gallon (gpg) 
Hard Water: 7 - 10 grains per gallon (gpg) 
Very Hard Water: Over 10 grains per gallon (gpg)

Why Are Water Softeners Needed?

Can I Take The Softener With Me When I Move?

With modern water softeners, it is very possible to take them along during moving. Installation techniques involve quick fitting connections, similar to those used for laundry machines. All that has to be done is closing off the inlet and outlet valves of the softener and open up the bypass valve, allowing hard water to flow to the storage tank and household taps. After that the softener can be disconnected, moved to its new location and placed there.

Brine Discharge Into A Septic Tank

The Water Quality Association has performed studies on this subject. These studies have indicated that a properly placed septic tank that works adequately cannot be damaged by brine that is discharged from a water softener. And softened water can sometimes even help reduce the amount of detergents discharged into a septic tank.
