Q: How does the PH-MAX adjust the pH?
A: This system contains specialty calcite media engineered to correct the pH of the water by introducing calcium & magnesium minerals which neutralize pH levels. The media dissolves into the water just enough to raise the pH to a neutral level. Calcite is designed to add some calcium to the water that will contribute to water hardness.

Q: What can I expect the pH to be after the system?
A: The PH-MAX will raise the pH to a neutral level anywhere between 7.0-8.0 depending on the starting pH level. New calcite media may show a higher pH but after some water use the pH will settle into the neutral zone.

Q: What kind of maintenance is required for this system?
A: Slow dissolving pH correction media needs to be refilled approximately once a year. Very low pH levels and high water usage may need more frequent refilling.

Q: What does backwash flow rate mean?
A: The backwash flow rate is the flow rate required for effective backwashing of the system. Backwashing keeps the pH correction media fresh to prevent channeling and clumping for effective neutralizing. Your well system will need to provide this flow rate for the duration of the backwash.

Q: How long does the filter last?
A: The entire system does not need to be replaced, just keep refilling the calcite media as needed for years of continued performance.
