A: The Sierra-FX Series will filter chlorine, chlorine by-products, chloramines, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, organic chemicals and sediment, it will also reduce the effects of hard water scale up to 25gpg with a built-in no salt hard water scale treatment module. To "soften water" you actually have to remove the calcium and magnesium hard water minerals with salt-based ion exchange systems. With the Sierra-FX Series calcium and magnesium remains in your water. These systems are alternatives to salt based water softeners and perfect for customers who don't want to add salt to their water, don't want the hassle of heavy salt bags and salt maintenance, or just want to Go Green! Unlike salt using water softeners the Sierra-FX drain water can be reclaimed and is safe for septic tanks

Q: How does the Sierra-FX condition hard water without salt? A: The Sierra-FX Series use a built-in "Oxy-Mag" module that use a "Tri-Pole" magnetic field featuring a strong neodymium magnetic module. Hard water starts its journey by entering the pressure reduction chamber which slows the velocity allowing for enhanced magnetic field contact time as the water envelops the magnetic field reducing the effects of hard water scale.

A: This system does not use any chemicals like salt, potassium permangenate or chlorine for regenerating so this system is safe to use with septic systems. In most cases the drain water can actually be reused in other areas like irrigation.

A: The backwash keeps the media clean and fresh for optimum filtration performance by preventing compacting and low pressure. The drain water can be routed to a drain source, such as a washing machine drain, and in some cases the water can be reused on the landscape. Backwash frequency is typically once a week.
