What Is The Difference Between A Standard Water Softener And The RainDance Well Water Iron Eater: The Iron Eater is designed to remove very high iron, manganese and hard water from well water sources and is priced thousands less than some national franchise dealers. The Iron Eater is space saving requiring only 2 tanks whereas a standard water softener typically requires a separate iron filter adding more cost and maintenance. Easy To Use: The Iron Eater uses a water efficient metered initiated automatic backwashing control valve and allows the user to use either standard sodium water softener pellets or use the sodium-free potassium pellet option!

The first tank is then recharged. This cycle is repeated when the second tank reaches its capacity point.

The Iron Eater VS. Standard Water Softeners:
The Iron Eater utilizes our specialty combination of resin and iron filter media. The fineness of the resin creates a filter that is about 5x more effective than standard resins so it does a good job of ferric iron removal with polishing by the high iron filtration media. The effectiveness on ferrous iron is a function of resin kinetics --- the more often and completely the water touches the resin, the more iron is removed. Kinetics in turn is a function of the surface area of the resin. The kinetics is equally important during regeneration. The brine is used more effectively thus the resin cleans better and uses the salt more efficiently. The same concept used for the ferrous iron applies to the removal of water hardness.
