A: The Iron Max-FX Series will filter and remove iron, manganese, sediment, hydrogen sulfide gas and suspended solids, it will also reduce the effects of hard water scale up to 25gpg with a built-in no salt hard water scale treatment module. To "soften water" you actually have to remove the calcium and magnesium hard water minerals with salt-based ion exchange systems. With the Iron Max-FX Series calcium and magnesium remains in your water. These systems are alternatives to salt based water softeners and perfect for customers who don't want to add salt to their water, don't want the hassle of salt maintenance, or just want to Go Green! Unlike salt water softeners the Iron Max-FX drain water can be reclaimed and is safe for septic tanks
